25% of the worlds botanical foods are available from Africa, yet only 1% are utilised... 

Its was with this notion the founders of ATIKEM were inspired to take a trip to their motherland and the search of finding a way to connect the produce of Ethiopia to customers around the world began.

This journey however started in the 1950’s when the founders grandparents became the first director of Ethiopian Airlines in its incarnation (now Africa’s largest commercial airline) and alongside their grandmother, owned a coffee plantation in Gera, Kefa provenience in the 60’s. They also started the Karamara Cafe in Addis Ababa.

Our long-term goal is to create a supply chain from seed to mouth and have a positive impact on the local economy. Knowing that every sale aids farmers to be more sustainable and empowers them to invest in their communities greatest needs are key ingredients in our DNA.

ATIKEM is a fusion of the vibrant beat running throughout Ethiopia and connecting it’s produce to the world in the most sustainable and ethical means possible.
